Caucus cactus

Holy moly - a lot of people were engaged in the political process tonight!

It's super Tuesday, and we knew it would be busy. I had no idea how busy it would be..

We caucus at a school with what seemed like 5 billion other people (probably more like 500-1,000, but whatever :P). We should have known when we had to park a few blocks away and walk to the school that this was going to get interesting.

After squeezing the Highlander into a space it had no business being squeezed in to, we hopped out for our hike to the building. As we neared we were given the wise advice to head to the back entrace as the front doors were literally clogged with people trying to get inside. We wandered into a surreal world of 4th grade art and after rushing the mosh pit in the hallways, we found the single classroom dedicated to our precinct and party. Thankfully the wait in line wasn't terribly long, but when we moved into the room we realized there were about 70 grown-up sized people wedged into a room designed for 20 pint sized people! I *really* wanted to stay and caucus after voting in the presidential preference poll, but I couldn't bring myself to engage in the human origami required to fit myself into the 5 square inches of available floor space. So we voted and ran for the hills...

Part of me hopes this means we see many people engaged in the whole political process this year, and part of me wonders how the heck we'll manage all those people at the polls. :/

In any case, I'm glad we went and I'll be back. Viva la political process! :)
