This past weekend in Minnesota was something else. I think we hit -20F and I was so less than amused.
Tom and I spent most of the weekend doing woodwork around the fireplace. We're not all the way done yet, but we made quite a bit of progress! For those of you thinking, "Trim work is fun!" let me assure you that mitering crown moulding sucks. Sucks, sucks, sucks. I am happy with how things are turning out so far though...
I'm going to make a few appointments next week for estimates to have the carpet removed and the floors refinished. That one detail will make ALL the difference in the room. Other than hanging out in the garage with the saws, we tried to avoid the cold entirely. I did venture out twice - once to Menards and once to get us dinner on Saturday. Both times we started the cars FAR in advanced but still had to listen to the moaning and groaning of our poor little vehicles. At least they started...
Every time I see or hear the temperature I think of all the plants I put in over the summer and cross my fingers that they all make it through the winter alive. I'm so looking forward to our gardens springing to life come April and May, but I know at least a few plants will not survive the frigid weather without a thick blanket of snow. :(
Not much else to report from our little home on the tundra. I should remember to book a vacation somewhere warm the first two weeks of Feb. next year.
