Its not the heat, its the lack of attitude.

1. Its friggin hot. And I mean hundreds of degrees HOT. Like I only went outside to make sure my gardens weren't dead and pick ginormous zucchinis. Since the landscaping is in limbo until the concrete guy makes it out, this is bad. Concrete guys have a super hard time getting any work done in the heat. Blah.

2. I totally need to get my behind in gear planning our trip to Tokyo. Mid-September is like 7 weeks away!

3. I spent Saturday night singing my lungs out at the Jackson house with the Jacksons and the Kooyers. There is some video footage of the event we all hope will never see the light of day :) Thanks for the fun!

4. I have 3 weddings to attend in 3 months. Weddings are great, don't get me wrong...And the events this year will have plenty of joy and excitement. I'm just hoping we soon reach the age where we are all either happily married or happily not! The first is next weekend and I really need to go buy a new dress 'cause my old clothes simply do not fit.

5. Big changes coming on the work front. Stay tuned....

Landscape Progress

About one week into the great landscape project and things are looking good. Hopefully in another week I'll have a brand spankin' new landscape to enjoy!

Below are the "before" and "in progress" pictures - after photos to come soon :)

And on Saturdays, God created The Tick. And it was good.

Late last night, Tom and I threw ourselves down on the couch after a long weekend of landscaping in the nasty, humid heat of the weekend. Since its summer and there is nothing on TV, I planned to quickly skim the TV listings before settling on the Star Trek:DS9 DVDs we have from Netflix. I pulled up the guide and set to surfing with my last ounce of energy...

Suddenly, something popped out on the screen. THE TICK! Holy cow - and not any of the OK newfangled stuff - the hardcore, old school cartoon! Little Wooden Boy and the Belly of Love was the episode playing. The Tick is probably my favorite cartoon of all time. For reasons I never understood it was not replayed on TV, nor was there a DVD or other such fun stuff for me to go back and relive my early college years rising early (10AM) on Saturday just to watch the Tick. I have some rather hazy VHS recording of my favorite episodes, but its on VHS for cryin' out loud. (My husband would disown me if he caught me watching VHS on his fancy home theater equipment.)
Finally, after years and years of not seeing it, there it was :) Every night at 9:30PM on Toon Disney (WTF?) I can pretend I am 19, sleeping on a futon and eating cold cereal while I revel in the humor that is The Tick. SPOOOOOOON!

And oh was it good. Like a tall drink of water after a week in the desert. Duh dwee duh duh duh dwee dow. Duh dweeeee duh duh duh dwee dow......

Watch what you eat!

I've mentioned this to many people in the past... the infamous "diet" coffee from Caribou marketed as "low carb." Notice the use of the word "Skinny" in the name of the drink. Pure evil!

Seriously?

I had the unfortunate need to contact my bank today. I hate calling the bank - they're just insanely unhelpful and usually repeat the same line over an over again in response to questions.

In any case, despite noting that I had a no solicitation request on the account, Wells Fargo decided to try and sell me stuff anyway (like a savings account). I was feeling slightly annoyed by the whole thing until the sales guy on the phone directed me to a web page for more information on their checking accounts. As the page loads, I see this:

Being an analyst, I usually read graphs and charts carefully. This is the short bus of graphs. I like the upward trend that basically tells you saving $100 a month for 6 months will get you $600! If you need a graph like this to explain how saving money works, I suggest a bank is possibly not the best institution for you to visit. Ha ha!
